Vitamin D

Vitamin D plays an important role in bone health. According to the Institute of Medicine of the United States, adults should get 800-1000 IU of Vitamin D everyday14.

There are 3 ways to get vitamin D:
Sunlight: As the ultraviolet light in sunlight can enhance the manufacturing of active Vitamin D, an exposure to sunlight of around 15 minutes per day is recommended. Exposure of the face and the arms of leg (15% of skin surface) is adequate.
Food (e.g. sardines, salmon, fish liver oil)
